Well this was our second visit the Meads
And a great time we had indeed
This visit was in June when the weather was fine
A chill out weekend and a wonderful time
A six and half mile walk along local tracks
Then back to our massage chairs to sit and relax
BBQ lit and roast chicken was done
A nice bottle of wine and a relax in the sun
If this sound like you and your kind of weekend
Then to you the Meads I can strongly recommend
Everything you need Margaret and Graham have really gone far
To make sure this experience truly five star
Great cooking facilities with everything you could wish
Every type of utensil glass plate and dish
A fully stocked larder with all the essentials
Helping to improve your cooking potential
A wonderful log fire and outside fire pit
Also a gym if you want to keep fit
A nice big double comfy bed
And a wonderful wet room it must be said
A mention for the decor which has really been done right
    Uplifting quirky vivid and bright
The gardens are fantastic it must be agreed
Wonderful flowers and no sign of a weed
A walk around its pathways over bridge, pond and stepping stone
These lovely gardens are out on their own
This are great facilities in the heart of Edale
With two local pubs if you like your real ale
We’ve been to many place so we know our stuff
And can’t recommend this place highly enough

  • Sara (Saturday, May 30 15 11:42 am BST)

Spent the weekend here last May with a group of ten friends and had to return. Unique house, beautiful location. Margaret and Graham very friendly and helpful. Can highly recommend.

  • James Morley (Tuesday, May 12 15 10:00 am BST)

I have just returned home after a long weekend away at the meads with 12 friends. Words and photos can not describe how much of a wonderful place this is.The only way to see for real is to stay at
The Meads. Everyone in my party was happy and was taken back by this place, the decor and attention to detail is outstanding. The gardens are also amazing. Everything is included in your stay here
towels, hairdryers, showergels, wood for the fires it also has all the amenities you need and the kitchens are well stocked with all the little bits you would think you need to buy for a weekend or
week away and dont. The owners of the property and helpful, understanding, kind and generous which makes your stay more relaxing. We even had a coffee and catch up with them before we left on the
monday morning. Margarets homemade hamper delights are divine and what way to top off a stay with a welcome bottle of wine and homemade goodies. Me and my party are looking to return here again in
the future for a reunuion. There are many activities nearby and something to suit everyone. As we are not into walking we had a short drive to Alton Towers, exploring of the gardens, games in the
gardens and also walking down to the local pub the ramblers inn where all the staff are friendly. We also had a house party great that we didnt have to buy ice as this comes out the fridge and theres
enough room to dance away or chill in the living room in front of the fire, playing the grand piano and also watching dvd's that are included. Theres no place like staying here for sure.

  • JO GF (Friday, May 08 15 02:35 pm BST)

We didn't see the kids for the whole weekend- they were far too busy exploring the wonderful gardens. An amazing house in a fantastic location; cycling and walks from the doorstep. Would
    wholeheartedly recommend!

  • Barbara Bowden (Friday, May 01 15 06:05 pm BST)

An amazing very unique venue in one of the most beautiful parts of the country. Margaret and Graham made us feel so welcome from our first meeting. We celebrated a big birthday with our youngsters at
the weekend, and swapped them for our friends for the rest of the week! Our hosts took all this in their stride. The house was equipped with everything you could possibly need and the gardens are
truly stunning. Can thoroughly recommend to any age group

  • Mrs karen Howard (Saturday, April 25 15 06:06 pm BST)

Wonderful weekend with family. Perfect location for walking, easy access, via train, to Manchester. House is all that we had thought it would be and more ! Definitely somewhere to relax, room for
everyone to spread out, stocked with all you need. Recommend using the firepit as sun sets. We will be back !

  • Sophie Wilsdon (Tuesday, April 07 15 06:00 pm BST)

9 female friends and I stayed at The Meads in March this year - and had a really great time. It's hard to explain the place verbally, or in pictures...it's full of treats and colours and luxury, yet
is still cosy and not too 'exclusive' feeling. The wood burners, AGA, steam shower, roll top baths, sofas, a million cushions, homemade welcome hamper, and art work all contribute to feeling like you
are in a very special place. The baby grand piano was perfect for us, and had such a great view when playing on it... My only constructive comment would be that the website could do with updating as
I found it quite confusing and hard to find the info I wanted. And the floor in the master bedroom is slanted so that we needed to sleep backwards - which we really didn't mind! Margaret and Graham
were really helpful, and it was nice to chat with Graham in the garden on the Sunday. Their offers of help felt very genuine. I would definitely go back, in fact we have all been thinking of ways we
can go with different groups of people already!

  • Laura McGowan (Monday, March 09 15 05:49 pm GMT)

Words do not describe how wonderfully quirky and perfect this house is for a getaway! We have just returned from a 3 night stay as a group of 9 ladies and everybody was blown away by the venue. It
has everything you could ever need and every little thing has been considered. The beds are wonderfully comfortable, there are two fabulous steam showers, plenty of places to hide away with a book,
ample space to relax with a large party and the views from each window are breathtaking. The surroundings are beautiful and it is the ideal starting point for many walks. We cannot wait to return
    next year!

  • Daniel Smith (Wednesday, December 10 14 08:31 pm GMT)

We have just returned from a long weekend in Edale. A group of 7 of us and a 9 month old baby. We had such a fantastic time.
The house is ideal for a large group as there are enough bedrooms, the lounge is huge with a wonderful log burner and the kitchen is brilliant for socialising. The grounds are spectacular - we would
have liked to use the fire pit but we didn\'t get the weather.
The house is perfect for a 9 month baby, she had a great time exploring!
    We plan to come again.

  • Val Lee (Tuesday, November 04 14 05:53 pm GMT)

Just returned from long weekend in a party of 8 girls. What a fabulous stay we had! The house is so sociable....it is bigger than it appears on the website, so spacious and the owners have thought of
everything you might need. They are there to meet and greet and take time to take you through everything on arrival. Fabulous weekend!

  • Margaret Bayliss (Monday, November 03 14 03:04 pm GMT)

We have just returned from a week in Edale without family of 10. We hired The Meads for that time. Well we had a great time there and the house and gardens were just FAB U LOUS.
You have truly got to see it to be appreciated.
The owners are lovely too, so attentive and only want to please you.. It is a perfect house for a family gathering, young or elderly. Highley recommend.

  • Diane Stallabrass (Thursday, October 16 14 05:56 pm BST)

The Meads provided a perfect location for our annual get together with a group of eight friends. Margaret and Graham made us feel very welcome and had thought of everything we could possibly need for
our stay, including the most comprehensively equipped kitchen we have ever come across!! The house is very spacious and lived up to expectations with its quirky decor and a wow factor at every turn.
We were pleased also to make use of the glorious garden where we took afternoon tea in the October sunshine. We followed some of Margaret's recommendations for local walks and the cycle ride at
Ladybower enjoying spectacular scenery. All in all the Meads was a real find and we would happily recommend it to others.

  • David Evans (Wednesday, October 08 14 08:00 pm BST)

The Meads lived up to and exceeded our expectations. The location is wonderful and the house perfect for our large group of 8 adults and a baby. Plenty of space for everyone to relax and explore the
gardens and decor. The beds were especially comfortable and we received a very warm welcome. Do not hesitate to book.

  • Hannah (Wednesday, October 01 14 06:13 pm BST)

We enjoyed a wonderful family weekend at the Meads. It was the perfect place for 4 generations to enjoy each other's company, the house, garden and beautiful Dales. Margaret and Graham made sure we
had everything we needed for the perfect stay.

  • Chris Dodd (Monday, September 15 14 10:19 pm BST)

We had a great reunion weekend at The Meads. A brilliant house, with a lovely garden, set in beautiful countryside. Weather could have been a bit better, but we managed! Margaret and Graham were
helpful, and the welcome cake, bread and wine VERY welcoming. Don't hesitate - book now for your memorable trip. Just dont bank on culinary triumphs at the two pubs - pub grub, nothing more nothing
less. OK so long as that's what you expect. PS last orders early on Sundays.

  • julie ramsey (Friday, August 22 14 11:35 pm BST)

This is the most wonderful, fantastical house that I have ever stayed in. The grounds are amazing and our children absolutely loved running around in the vast space, exploring, having adventures and
bouncing about on the trampoline. Truly amazing!

When entering the house your eyes are drawn to the rich wonderful colours. Each and every room is truly delightful with such unique charm! I have even taken away some design ideas!! The house is so
well equipped and anything and everything you could want, need or think about is there! Steam showers, an Aga, cosy rooms, books, games and much more. There is a truly lovely atmosphere.

Margaret and Graham, the owners, are brilliant and make sure you feel safe, secure and informed. I would completely recommend this house particularly to families as the experience was fantastic, we
were able to get out and about, visiting caverns and underground caves and Alton Towers. Definitely 5 star! *****

  • Royden Fairfax (Thursday, July 03 14 04:30 pm BST)

It really lives up to what it says it is WONDERFUL place to have the privilege on staying in
IT lived up to our expectations and way, way beyond
Could not have been more pleased with our choice

  • Sarah Lucas (Sunday, June 29 14 10:10 am BST)

I recently stayed here with a group of 10 girls for a hen do! Everything about the weekend was perfect! The meads is fantastic, we couldn't have asked for more! The house is beautiful, so quirky and
unique! Margaret was so welcoming and we were left with a wonderful welcome hamper to enjoy during our stay! The gardens are amazing, perfect for our mad hatters tea party!
I would definitely recommend the meads to anyone as hope I will return for another stay in the future!

  • Matt Golder (Thursday, June 26 14 09:51 pm BST)

Spent a week in the Meads and the Garden Wing in June. There were 10 of us. Plenty of room to hang out together or apart, depending on one's mood. The house and gardens (and weather) were great. Our
son really loved the trampoline and seemingly found new paths in the garden every day. Loved the scenery and all the walks. Would highly recommend.

  • Richard Allen (Monday, May 26 14 12:44 pm BST)

Had a really relaxing weekend in an interesting property with beautiful gardens. Recommended to parents who are staying next week.

  • Sara (Monday, May 19 14 07:33 pm BST)

We were 10, in both the house and the garden wing. Everything was beautiful and comfortable and we enjoyed our weekend immensely. It was lovely to be able to walk from the house to the Pennine Way,
and great to be able to eat together in the lovely dining room.
No negatives, but it would have been great to have a bath in the Garden Wing and I think the bath in the main house took a long time to fill, otherwise perfect!

  • Alice Gorman (Tuesday, May 06 14 08:53 pm BST)

Thank you for a wonderful weekend at The Meads!
We couldn't have asked for a better equipped or more beautifully decorated house.
The mature gardens were extensive and we loved the paths and swing seats.
It is an amazing setting, and while we didn't explore the surrounding area as much as we would have liked, the view from the house was breathtaking. And the weather was perfect!
Everybody commented on how comfortable the house was, with lots of lovely little touches (including a welcome hamper!), Margaret
and Graham have thought of everything and were very helpful!
We would certainly recommend and would consider 'staying here' again!
Brilliant memories (sitting round the camp fire, sun bathing on the veranda, listening to the piano, the steam shower...!) that will last a long time!
The perfect place to spend with friends and family.

    Alice & Chris

  • Hinesh (Thursday, May 01 14 05:09 pm BST)

Having just returned from 4 days at The Meads, I can't recommend booking here enough. The house is absolutely AMAZING! The decor and finishing touches have all been thought about a lot and it makes
    such a difference.

The Wood Fires and Grounds are all outstanding and we couldn't have asked for any more from the owners Margaret and Graham. The walks are also breathtaking, make sure you try and do them!

We can't wait to go back!

  • Dawn Forrester (Tuesday, April 29 14 09:36 pm BST)

Just returned from a fantastic Easter break at the Meads with my family. Would highly recommend the Meads - the house and gardens are fantastic. Loads for kids to do, steam shower fab, wood burners
amazing. The house is so warm and inviting as is the basket of goodies we received on arrival - Thanks Margaret & Graham. Will be returning.

  • Edmund Heyes (Tuesday, April 15 14 08:25 am BST)

Having travelled up by train from London, we made it to the Ramblers Inn and asked them if they knew of our contact, Graham, for The Meads. “Yep, he called to say he’ll be 5 minutes and suggested you
both have a drink on his tab in the meantime.” He turned up just a few minutes later and joined us for the drink! I had presumed we were meeting him due to our destination being hidden far away
somewhere (I’ll admit my partner had done all the organising for this trip), but it was just a minute or so away – he was just making absolutely sure we had no further troubles finding the
    place.

That thoughtfulness and effort was echoed throughout our whole stay. We arrived to a bottle of wine, some fresh bread and a delicious cake (the remains of which I took with us on our walk the
following day)! The place was spotless and I can’t remember wanting for anything – we had wifi, a TV with a selection of DVDs, an amazing wet shower room – even a few handy torches, one of which I
used to go and say hi to my brother who was camping nearby. This is all without actually mentioning the place itself, which is so full on and crazy that it really, really works – a lot of fun.

My partner was (and still is, just) pregnant, so it was more of a pottering around weekend than a hardy walking one. We spent a really pleasant hour just walking round the garden – you’ll be amazed
at how much work has gone into the place.

In all, a thoroughly enjoyable long weekend and we’re hoping to visit again sometime in the near future. Thank you!!

  • Jane Shearn (Friday, April 11 14 06:48 pm BST)

Do not hesitate to book this house! The Meads was a fantastic place to stay for our family group. We all loved it, from my 3 year old visiting nephew to my 70 year old Mum, including 4 hard to please
teens (the games room and gym a big hit). Having owned my own holiday home I can honestly say that a huge amount of thought has gone into ensuring a wonderful stay. Well done Margaret and Graham, you
have created a magical and relaxing special space.

  • Pru Hurt (Tuesday, April 01 14 04:43 pm BST)

Just back home from a memorable stay at The Meads. A very unique and funky house, with so much for your enjoyment. A welcoming hamper and warming Aga. A beautiful garden for outdoor games and hiding
easter eggs! And much, much more. We all loved it.

Beautiful house, beautiful location. It's big and spacious but still retains a cosy feel, intricately decorated throughout with attention to detail everywhere you look.
    Cannot recommend enough!

Every part of this house is amazing, so much attention to detail, thoughtful touches like the welcome basket of home baked goods and wine. The dining room table was set up beautifully.
Every room was unique and quirky.
This has to be the best holiday home I have ever been to and I cant wait to go back,

My friends and family booked this place for a surprise hen do for me, which is wonderful alone but then to be in this house as well. WOW!
Such amazing decor all through the house. Every room is beautifully done, all the furniture and furnishings are gorgeous. We had homemade goods and wine in a welcome basket and the dining room table
was set up ready for a meal.
This has to be the best holiday home I have stayed at and I cannot wait to go back!

Singularly the most wonderful house I have ever stayed in. Every room was stunning. Amazing attention to detail. Fabulously generous welcome baskets with homemade bread and cake and a bottle of wine.
Thoughtful touches like milk, butter, salt, pepper, tea and coffee provided. Beautiful grounds. Really friendly welcome. Luxury accommodation at a very reasonable price. I hope it's not too long
before I am able to arrange a return visit.

Our first family Christmas spent away & we couldn't have chosen a better place to do it than 'The Meads'. A lovely warm welcome, along with a hamper & provisions to keep us going. Plenty of
space for the 8 adults & two teenagers, coupled with first class accomodation & comfortable surroundings gave us a Christmas to remember for years too come. Train from the village station to
Manchester Christmas Market, worked up an appitite with a walk on Kinder Moor. I cooked christmas dinner for us all on the Aga with all the trimmings no problem & the dinning table had already
been prepared for us with crackers & balloons.
An evening Christmas carol service at the village church was the icing on the cake. As the weather was quite mild we made the most of the fantastic gardens & finished the last evening around a
fire in the garden fire pit area. Margaret & Graham have created a unique holiday venue in beautiful peaceful surroundings & I would recommend it to anyone.

We spent 6 wonderful days/nights (11-17 Nov 2013) staying in the 'garden wing' which is by far the best equipped self-catering accommodation we have ever stayed in. There are honestly more saucepans
than I have in my kitchen at home! We loved the bright colourful decor, the log burner, the wet room with underfloor heating and two showers (for the price of one!), the wonderful views and amazing
garden. Margaret and Graham provided a lovely welcome hamper with home baked bread, cake , tapinade, marmalade. and a bottle of wine plus a puzzle and maltesers just in case we needed any
encouragement to take it easy and relax. It is just the most idyllic place to stay - away from 'the maddening crowd' and we will no doubt return possibly when it's a bit warmer so that we can make
full use of the numerous seated areas in the lovely garden. Thanks to Margaret and Graham for making us so welcome.

Once a year we get together to catch up, after arriving at the Meads everyone was in love with the place. The amazing house, history, welcome and views. We can't wait to go back.

  • Antony Beckwith (Tuesday, October 22 13 06:30 pm BST)

We have just had a lovely weekend staying in the Garden Wing for 3 nights. What a beautiful, comfortable and unique base for walking in stunning countryside. We loved the wood burning stove, the
yummy homemade welcome hamper with cake, bread and homemade preserves, and the amazing bathroom with two showers, perfect for relaxing in after a long walk.

The hosts were lovely, and we could not have asked for a better weekend. There's everything you could possibly need and more in the Garden Wing, and the lovely gardens are perfect for strolling
around- we'll be coming back in the summer to make better use of them!

  • Philippa Morgan (Thursday, October 17 13 05:58 pm BST)

We spent a lovely weekend in this amazing, colourful, warm house. The wood burners and the Aga really warm the place up, lots of hot water, very well equipped kitchen and a beautiful spot. Thank you.

We have just got back after a fabulous stay at "The Meads" and the "Garden Wing". Margaret and Graham couldn't have done any more to make our stay more comfortable. The house was perfect for our
group of 8 and there was a hamper with home baked goodies and some wine to get us started. They tell us that they are getting a coffee table to solve the problem of where to put the drinks in the
sitting room so our feedback is already being addressed. Edale is a brilliant location for hill walking and the views across the fells are spectacular from Kinder Scout and Mam Tor. We highly
    recommend it.

Just come back from the best weekend staying at this great house, very colourful and cosy. Got everything there you could possible need. Loved the deep bath tubs !!

I have just go back from a fantastic weekend at The Meads in Edale. We could not of dreamed of a better equipped and more idyllic location for a weekend away. The house and the area guarantee that,
no matter what the weather, you will have a great weekend away. The accomodation is all to the highest standard. Margaret and Graham did everything they could to make our stay pleasant. I would not
hesitate to come here again and highly commend the property to you.

  • Rebecca Fallon (Friday, September 27 13 06:42 pm BST)

We had a wonderful time at the Meads and could not have asked fo better hosts than Margaret and Graham. Margaret went out of her way to welcome us and make the occasion special - it was my father's
80th birthday and she had baked a delicious cake, provided balloons and made us all feel very cared for in her stylish way.
The house is extra special and there is no place like Edale in the world - it is peaceful and ruggedly beautiful. I thoroughly recommend The Meads. Your stay will stay with you!

  • Luke Howard (Thursday, September 26 13 10:56 pm BST)

We had a lovely weekend at the Meads celebrating our father's birthday. The garden is beautful, with stunning views across Edale's hills. The house was delightful and all the rooms were so cosy.
Thanks Margaret for making us all feel so welcome. I thoroughly recommend a visit.

    The Bannisters - stayed 7 - 10th July 2013
If you are looking for a few days away from the madding crowd but not away from homely comforts then "Staying Here" is for you. An Edwardian counytry house at the end of a private drive but not too
far from Edale's pubs and walks, "Staying Here" is a real gem. The house is split into two, a larger residence sleeping upto 10 and a smaller and secluded 'Garden Room' (sleeps 3 but ideally 2). We
stayed in the Garden Room that is furnished with top of the range kitchen, bathroom, bedroom facilities etc WiFi and Freeview TV channels. The Garden Room has an extensive patio and COuntry Style
furniture, private barbeque with private access to the 4 acres of beautifully manicured grounds. A few metres from the Garden Room in a separate building is the fitness room, complete with industrial
strength drying and washing facilities. The arts and crafts feel to the whole place is quite unique and you could not ask for better hosts who told us everything we had to know then just left us to
it. We did not see a soul for three days (apart from the owners son who checked once to ensure everything was to our satisfaction - which it was of course). Bottom line - we have stayed all over the
World and would come back here in an instant - most highly recommended (and I have only said that once before about the Al Maha in Dubai - different kind of holiday of course).
Margaret and Graham have built an oasis in Edale.

We all had an amazing time, both at The Meads and in the surrounding area. The house is fantastic and the gardens are beautiful with plenty to do. An ideal cottage holiday.

  • Ian Pringle (Saturday, July 27 13 08:19 am BST)

We have just spent 11 wonderful days at the Meads and can attest its unique location, wonderful welcome and sumptuous luxury. Edale is a special experience and the house the best possible way to
enjoy the village and the surrounding countryside. Margaret and Graham are very agreeable hosts and make the entire experience comfortable and unforgettable. Stay There!
